facebook musings (wk 3, ex 7)
Since there are almost 600 UVI students using Facebook (and perhaps many more), I wonder if this is something that could be useful for the library. Other libraries seem to be interacting with their patrons this way, some of them very successfully. A number of library/librarian groups on Facebook are full of suggestions and great discussions about the idea. Just a thought for some further exploration...

I actually joined facebook a while ago and, I'm sorry to say, did not finish up with my intended facebook project. I got a little creeped out about being in an online community, even though I know lots of librarians are participating in social networking sites. I actually received several friend requests from students, and it made me feel a bit uncomfortable. This is an interesting issue to me-- how available do/should library staff make themselves?lm
